APRI - African Policy Research Institute, Stiftung Mercator and the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa are pleased to invite you to the webinar on Bridging Vision and Action: African and European Strategies for Critical Raw Materials. 

In January 2025, APRI’s Geopolitics Program, with the support of Stiftung Mercator, launched a map of Africa’s Green Mineral Partnerships. Building on this work, this roundtable will mark the launch of new interactive infographics on the EU Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA) and Africa's Green Minerals Strategy (AGMS). The event will also feature insights from South Africa’s Critical Minerals and Metals Strategy, launched in May 2025, and a business perspective with the Federation of German Industries (BDI) Africa Strategy published in November 2025.

This event will:

  • Present and critically examine the key European and African regional strategies shaping the global mineral agenda
  • Analyze how financial resources, geopolitical interests, and national priorities drive these strategies
  • Assess how national and regional strategies are translating into concrete actions, particularly in mobilising investment and building local capacity.
